~%#l#%~br/~%#r#%~ А что может получиться при использовании «десктопной» ОС?~%#l#%~br/~%#r#%~ ~%#l#%~div~%#r#%~ ~%#l#%~a href="http://habrahabr.ru/blogs/net/102049/#habracut"~%#r#%~Читать дальше →~%#l#%~/a~%#r#%~ ~%#l#%~/div~%#r#%~ -

Limelife is struggling as a women's lifestyle site on the Web, but on mobile it is doing much better, with about 2 million monthly mobile visitors (versus only 750,000 for the Website). Much of this traffic comes from being placed on the carrier deck of many feature phones. LimeLife will bring the company's total reach to about 6 million people a month, including its ad network of about 40 fashion blogs and other sites. The company has invited dozens of press to the event (it even shuttled some of them down from San Francisco), and it's clear that it's treating this as a very big deal. I'm liveblogging my notes from the event below.~%#l#%~img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host%3Dtechcrunch.com%26blog%3D11718616%26post%3D209337%26subd%3Dtctechcrunch%26ref%3D%26feed%3D1" /~%#r#%~

Facebook won't say officially what the event is about, but it seems like everyone knows. And now we know for sure. Earlier, ~%#l#%~a href="http://techcrunch.com/2010/08/18/facebook-places/"~%#r#%~we found code evidence of the new Facebook Places area~%#l#%~/a~%#r#%~. Now we've found the feature itself. Welcome to Facebook Places. The following screenshots are from the ~%#l#%~a href="http://touch.facebook.com"~%#r#%~touch version~%#l#%~/a~%#r#%~ of Facebook's website. The ~%#l#%~a href="http://techcrunch.com/2010/05/09/facebook-places-check-in/"~%#r#%~same place we originally found the location code months ago~%#l#%~/a~%#r#%~. As you can see, there's a new Places tab. When clicked on, it shows friends who have geotagged themselves at various locations (both of the people in the shots below are Facebook employees -- no surprise there). When you tap "Share where you are with friends" from here, it brings up a list of nearby places. Yes, it's Facebook check-in.~%#l#%~img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host%3Dtechcrunch.com%26blog%3D11718616%26post%3D209342%26subd%3Dtctechcrunch%26ref%3D%26feed%3D1" /~%#r#%~

If you said "turning off the lights," you'd be wrong. But you are not alone, most Americans say the same thing. A new survey shows most people have misconceptions about what works best to save energy. Keeping lights off isn’t a bad idea in itself, but it has significantly less impact than swapping out the bulbs for more energy-efficient ones, says Shahzeen Attari, who published a ~%#l#%~a href="http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2010/08/06/1001509107.abstract"~%#r#%~paper~%#l#%~/a~%#r#%~ on the survey. ~%#l#%~img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host%3Dtechcrunch.com%26blog%3D11718616%26post%3D209224%26subd%3Dtctechcrunch%26ref%3D%26feed%3D1" /~%#r#%~

18 August 2010 | 5:25 pm~%#l#%~img src="http://tctechcrunch.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/placesoptin.png" alt="" /~%#r#%~Right now dozens of reporters are making their way down to Facebook's Palo Alto offices for a special event that's widely believed to be the launch of its long-rumored location feature. We've just come across evidence that this is, indeed, what the event will be focusing on, and it's going to be called Facebook Places. Nestled in the source of Facebook's homepage (which I enjoy browsing as a hobby) are two references to Places — namely, a section of the page that will be called pagelet_places_opt_in. My colleague MG Siegler conducted a similar search earlier this week and saw no evidence of the Places opt-in, so it looks like this is new. The code itself is obfuscated so it's difficult to find where it points to (let us know if you figure it out in the comments), but this will almost certainly be one of Facebook's alert messages that appears above the News Feed.~%#l#%~img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host%3Dtechcrunch.com%26blog%3D11718616%26post%3D209318%26subd%3Dtctechcrunch%26ref%3D%26feed%3D1" /~%#r#%~

Given it was a room full of entrepreneurs and techies, no one was too offended that anyone was glued to his or her phone—but we were all mocking him about his somewhat dated NASA obsession. And Matt said, “Yeah, I get that a lot. I can’t help it, I still like space.” What happened to our love affair with astronauts?~%#l#%~img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host%3Dtechcrunch.com%26blog%3D11718616%26post%3D209305%26subd%3Dtctechcrunch%26ref%3D%26feed%3D1" /~%#r#%~

For those unaware (though I'm not sure how you could be), it was a third-party app that hooked into Twitter to calculate a grade for you based on your Twitter usage. There are about a million of those, but this was particularly annoying because it auto-tweeted out the results for everyone that used it. Twitter agreed -- and yesterday they suspended the app. But the situation was a bit murky because Twifficiency actually did warn users they would auto-tweet when a user clicked the button. The problem was that this message was hidden in a tiny font at the bottom of the page. Everyone from Google exec Marissa Mayer to about 300 of my friends fell for the tactic and the thing spread like a virus before Twitter cut it off.~%#l#%~img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host%3Dtechcrunch.com%26blog%3D11718616%26post%3D209266%26subd%3Dtctechcrunch%26ref%3D%26feed%3D1" /~%#r#%~
